Industry Day
The SpEC team hosts an in-person industry day, connecting top-tier industry
performers with government in a matter of days.

Utilizing the "Quick Start" authority,
the R-GPS team successfully earned
Deputy
Secretary
of
Defense
approval,
conducted
market
research, hosted an industry day,
released a solicitation, and awarded
initial contracts in under six months,
far faster than traditional space
programs that sometimes require up
to three years. The rapid execution
and award of this project was made
possible through the use of the OTA.
NSTXL’s SpEC team supported this
critical SSC need by planning and
executing an in-person industry day
four days after "Quick Start" was
signed, bringing 200 potential
performers together in-person to
connect with the government team
to clarify the project needs, resulting
in nine industry responses. The SpEC
team executed quickly, moving from
RFP to award in 71 work days. The
R-GPS award is a pivotal milestone
for space defense showcasing the
efficiency of acquisition with OTAs.

R-GPS provides resilience to military
and civil GPS user communities by
augmenting the GPS constellation with
proliferated small satellites transmitting
a core set of widely used GPS signals.
