SpEC Program
Overview
The Space Enterprise Consortium
was established in 2017 by Space
Systems Command (SSC) with
a unique mission: to bridge the
communication gap between the
DoD and the burgeoning commercial
space sector. Recognizing the
limitations of traditional contracting
methods, SpEC leverages OTAs to
streamline procurement processes
and encourage participation from
a diverse range of companies,
including
startups
and
small
businesses that may not have prior
experience working with the DoD.
This innovative approach aims to
foster a more collaborative and agile
environment for space technology
development. SpEC's core mission
is to facilitate the rapid development
and deployment of advanced space
capabilities. By minimizing barriers
to entry for non-traditional vendors,
SpEC empowers a wider pool of
innovators to contribute to critical
space missions.
